Let's face the facts.
GOVERNMENT
RESPONSE:
Over 7,300 individuals experience homelessness in Toronto, with 2,000 facing chronic homelessness.
CHARITY
ALLOCATIONS:
Many large organizations allocate only 15% of donations directly to those in need, with the rest covering overhead costs.
CLOTHING
DONATIONS:
Donating clothing for resale doesn’t address immediate needs for those without financial means.
FOOD BANK
USAGE:
Food bank visits in Toronto reached 3.49 million in the past year, a 273% increase since the pandemic.
SENIOR
POVERTY:
Over 12% of seniors in Toronto live below the poverty line, struggling to afford basic needs.
SERVING ON
SIDEWALKS:
95% of donations go directly to those in need; 5% covers operational costs. Volunteers are compensated with gratitude, not wages.
